Getting Started

This section explains how to start using Azzamo as a Nostr user or developer.

You do not need an account, email address, or password. Everything is based on your Nostr identity.

What you need

To use Azzamo, you need:

  • A Nostr key pair (npub / nsec)
  • A Nostr client or browser extension
  • Optional: a Lightning wallet for premium access

If you already use Nostr, you likely already have everything required.

Nostr identity

Azzamo uses Nostr keys for identification and authentication.

  • Your npub is your public identity
  • Your private key never leaves your device
  • Signing is done via your Nostr client or extension

There are no usernames, passwords, or recovery emails managed by Azzamo.

Sign in with Nostr

Signing in is optional for basic usage but required for premium features and uploads.

You can sign in using:

  • A Nostr browser extension (NIP-07)
  • A mobile signer app
  • Manual npub-based login (read-only)

Signing in allows Azzamo to:

  • Link premium time to your npub
  • Track usage and limits
  • Send you direct notifications if needed

Free vs premium access

Azzamo offers both free and premium access.

Free access includes:

  • Reading from Azzamo relays
  • Limited writing to the free relay
  • Connecting to public relay endpoints

Premium access unlocks:

  • Writing to the premium relay
  • Higher or no rate limits
  • Media uploads via Azzamo Blossom
  • Priority handling and guaranteed storage

Premium access is time-based and paid with Bitcoin Lightning.

Payments and Lightning

All payments on Azzamo are Bitcoin-native.

  • Payments are made using Lightning
  • No subscriptions or auto-renewals
  • You pay for time or usage, not for accounts

Once paid, premium time is linked to your npub and activates automatically.

Using Azzamo with your client

Most Nostr clients work with Azzamo out of the box.

Typical steps:

  1. Add the Azzamo relay URLs to your client
  2. Sign events using your Nostr key
  3. Publish notes as usual

For media uploads, use a client that supports Blossom or NIP-96 uploads and select an Azzamo Blossom server.

What happens to your content

Important guarantees:

  • Notes published to Azzamo relays are distributed to other relays
  • Media uploaded to Blossom is content-addressed and verifiable
  • Your identity remains portable across the Nostr network

Azzamo does not lock you into a proprietary client or format.
