Azzamo Relays¶

Azzamo operates high-performance Nostr relays designed to be reliable, readable by everyone, and resistant to spam.

The relay network is built to favor signal, long-term availability, and predictable behavior for users and clients.

What Azzamo relays provide¶

Free and premium relays¶

Azzamo operates both free and premium relay endpoints.

Free relay¶

The free relay is intended for general use and discovery.

Free to read
Limited writing
Rate limits and filters apply
Suitable for trying Azzamo or casual usage

The free relay prioritizes network health and spam resistance over throughput.

Premium relay¶

The premium relay is designed for users who publish regularly or depend on reliability.

Free to read
Writing requires active premium time
No or very high rate limits
Long-term archiving
Higher priority processing

Premium access is linked to your Nostr public key, not to a client or device.

Writing and propagation¶

Publishing to an Azzamo relay does not isolate your content.

Notes are distributed to other relays
Followers on different relays can still receive your posts
Clients remain free to choose additional relays

Azzamo relays participate in the wider Nostr network rather than acting as a silo.

Spam resistance¶

Spam resistance is a core design goal.

Azzamo uses multiple layers, including:

Payment-based write access
Rate limiting on free endpoints
Web of Trust–based imports
Client-side and relay-side filtering

These measures are designed to reduce noise without requiring manual moderation of normal users.

Supported event types¶

Azzamo relays support standard Nostr event kinds, including:

Text notes
Reactions and reposts
Long-form content
Profile metadata
Zaps and payment-related events

Support for newer NIPs is added as they stabilize.

Data retention¶

Azzamo relays aim to retain notes long-term.

Notes published to the premium relay are archived
Free relay retention may be more limited
Deleted events follow Nostr deletion semantics

Retention rules are documented separately and may evolve over time.

When to use Azzamo relays¶

Azzamo relays are a good fit if you:

Want predictable relay behavior
Publish frequently on Nostr
Need spam resistance without heavy censorship
Rely on notes staying available over time

If you prefer fully ephemeral or unfiltered relays, Azzamo may not be a good match.
